Beauty in small packages

Just recently we were ask to make special floral arrangements for a local chef's birthday celebration at Prowse Farm in Canton, MA. We love a challenge. Since we were celebrating a chef, we agreed that the theme should be edible and elegant. The other challenge was that roughly 40 guest would be there, and perhaps they would like a parting gift as. Eureka!!!!!

We prepared herbs such as: Sage, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, and Mint to be centerpieces. This way clean up would be easy and guest would have a gift.

It was a big hit!!!

Sometimes the looks really count


 Some say a picture is worth 1000 words. I agree. Let's say that we take a lot of pictures from different angles and the words will be exponential.  When we set plants in the ground staging is so impotant. It's not simply running down to your local store, seeing a nice plant, buying a shovel to match, envisioning the tag of that plant in your yard, digging the hole, and VIOLA!!! No. That plant has to be showcase at every concievable angle. If the leaves droop one way, or if the sun hits it another, all that has to be accounted for.


 

Our approach is selecting a plant that has optimal health and placing it primarily in a place where it will do well. If a plant flowers or has flowers, most likely it likes sun, or simply read the tag. If it's a leafy plant, the shade may work. Once again read the tag. Make sure it will have enough space once it's full grown.  If all parameters are checked, dig your hole, liberate the roots, insert, and stand back. Turn that plant, bring forward or backwards to capture it's defining look.
